# Onboarding and Account Activation

Welcome to Deriverse. To access trading on the platform, every new user must complete a brief onboarding and account activation process.

You will need **at least 0.02 SOL** in your wallet to activate your account. This covers the Solana blockchain account rent fee - it is not a platform charge, and it is refundable. See [Understanding Solana rent](/deriverse-v1/deposits-and-withdrawals.md#understanding-solana-rent).

## 1. Getting started and the welcome screen

On your first visit to the platform, the **Welcome to Deriverse** modal window appears.

* **Beta announcement** - the window displays the message: *"Deriverse Beta is Live on Solana Mainnet. Please connect your wallet to get started."*
* **Display settings** - if you do not wish to see this window on future visits, check the **Do not show this onboarding message** box.
* **First step** - click **Connect Wallet** within the welcome window to proceed.

## 2. Wallet connection and disclaimer

Security and legal compliance are mandatory for all users.

1. After clicking **Connect Wallet**, the **Disclaimer** modal opens. Click **Accept and Continue** to agree to the terms.
2. In the wallet selection modal, choose either **Phantom** or **Solflare**.
3. Confirm the signature request in your wallet extension.

Once signed, your status updates to **Connected** and the system moves to the next stage.

## 3. Account activation and first deposit

To finalize your registration, you must activate your account by making an initial deposit. After connecting your wallet, the **Make your first deposit** window appears.

* **Activation requirements** - you must have at least **0.02 SOL** in your wallet to cover the Solana blockchain account rent fee.
* **Selecting instruments** - choose a trading pair (for example, SOL/USDC) from the dropdown. Only supported tokens for that instrument are available for deposit.
* **Transaction** - enter the amount and click **Deposit**, then confirm the transaction in your wallet.

## 4. Access unlocked

Once the transaction is confirmed on the blockchain, a success notification toast appears in the corner of the screen.

1. **Final confirmation** - the **You're all set** window opens, stating: *"Your trading account has been created. The funds you deposited are ready to use for trading. Good luck!"*
2. **Start trading** - click **Start Trading** to close the window and begin trading on the Spot page.
